When it comes to shine and shimmer, I have to admit that I’m all in for that, and I’ve done a lot of research on finding the best supplies for gold and silver lettering on dark backgrounds.
I’ve tried lots of different brush pens, here are my favourites:
Kuretake Fude Brush Pen (great for paper and other surfaces, I used these to letter on Christmas Baubles)
Set of 10 Metallic Pens (absolutely perfect for Christmas cards)
Posca Brush Pens (great for glass/ fabric etc)
Posca Fine Tip Pens (not a brush tip, but great for sign making, lettering on mirrors, acrylic etc, great for faux calligraphy style)
But I always come back to using Coliro Finetec or Gansai Tambi paletters to achieve beautiful gold or silver lettering. Here are some of my favourite palettes:
Finetec Rainbow Palette (great for bright greeting cards, bold prints)
Finetec Pearl and Shimmer Palette (perfect for elegant wedding stationery)
Kuretake Gansai Tambi Golden Shades (I find that it’s a cost effective alternative to Finetec, and works very well)
I’ve created a tutorial showing you how to use these paints for the best results and have linked all the tools I’ve used below so you can give it a go yourself.
These paints are great for Christmas Card lettering or creating beautiful wedding invitations.
